Since I wasn’t able to watch the entire movie I honestly can’t base my opinions fully on which the real trickster is. So when I have watched the whole movie I will determine.
Although for now based upon what I have seen so far, I feel the trickster would appear to be Pierre since he is conning two men into basically making fools of them based upon their race. He appeals to these two men with money and power. They can’t resist what they can’t have, and when the opportunity becomes available they jump.
Although I believe the real trickster is Pierre’s boss, he appeals to Pierre’s need, by giving him the opportunity to write something, but he only gets to write this at a price, the price of insulting his own kind. Just as the two men are paying the price of being fools to get what they need.
Then again I do recall that Pierre’s boss saying his bosses were jumping down his throat to make a show worth watching. So maybe they are all tricksters playing one another, and never knowing that they are in fact being played as well.
And since I wasn’t further able to watch the movie I can’t honestly determine the real trickster, or even if there was one. Although I did find the movie humorous, I also felt small tinges of shame for finding those things funny. I liked how raw the movie was though, even though Pierre’s accent was totally random especially when you meet his father later on who has no trace of an accent.
The most amusing part of the entire movie to me though was the club scene with his father. I loved how he told jokes concerning his race. I find it so refreshing when people can laugh at themselves.
